ACRUX: Alpha Crucis is a multiple star system located 321 light-years from the Sun in the constellation of Crux and partof the asterism known as the Southern Cross.With a combined visual magnitude of 0.76, it is the brightest star in Crux and the13th brightest star in the night sky.It is the southern most firstmagnitude star, just a little more southerly than Alpha Centauri. A constellation near the southern sky, koor. (1230, -60). This constellation covers the stars of the south pole and is the smallest of constellations. Old marines would see this constellation as a good prophecy sent to their cruises. It is a Frenchman named Augustin Royer who was first portrayed by Bartsch in 1624 as a separate constellation in 1679.
